About Net Zero Polar Science (NZPS)
The NZPS Doctoral Training Programme (DTP) will train the next generation of scientists to deliver high impact environmental science with a reduced carbon footprint, while providing opportunities for career paths in a wide range of industries and disciplines.
NZPS will train future leaders to address grand polar science challenges more sustainably, which involves the evaluation, innovative use and creation of low-carbon technological solutions for all areas of NERC science.
Our students will acquire expertise that is urgently needed to plug the UK’s green skills gaps in academia, industry, and government.
PhD Research in Action
In this video, from the UK Centre for Polar Observation and Modelling (led from Northumbria University), you can watch CPOM PhD Researchers using drone technology to survey glaciers, proglacial lakes and icebergs in Iceland.
Drones were used to collect a range of data and samples.
